Taking A Break

I have the 3 cards I made at my SU card class today to share with you; then I will be taking a break from blogging for a while. I am going in for oral surgery tomorrow so I doubt i will feel like stamping let alone blogging. You really do not want to see how bad I blog when stoned out of my mind. On the other hand it could be quite comical....NOT. When everything is all over and done with I will have me a whole set of new teeth.

Now on to the good stuff......
All the stamps, papers and embellishments are from the new catalog.
The first card was done by coloring the stamp and then stamping the paper. I enjoy this technique when you have new and juicy markers to work with.

The second card is very simple and elegant, I just love the lacy edge border punch, as it gives a touch of elegance to anything.

Last but not least this pheasant is something that will be nice for the fall.

I almost forgot...I finished my inchies for this months inchie swap. The theme was "Recycle" and I found it a bit more challoenging than I thought. I only used things that normaqly you would throw away.
The top row was made from two different hallmark greeting cards.
The 2nd row is also made from still other greeting cards.
The 3rd row has a background from a "Westways"magazine that I picked out of the trash can at the Post Office, and the bell is from canceled postage stamps.
The 4th row; the background is from an envelope, the flowers are from...you guessed it another greeting card, and the yellow center is from small beeds a friend was going to throw out.

Took Time To Stamp

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. We had a BBQ with some friends, watched fireworks and worked some more out in the yard. Check out Alan's blog for the details and pictures. Alan is enjoying blogging so instead of repeating everything I'll let you jump over there.

In the middle of all the fun I needed some time to relax so I went into the craft room. I made this card as a thank you for a friend who have me a lot of her stamps. She is no longer physically able to stamp and knew her stamps would get a good home. Oh yea the copic markers did their magic once again. I am now loving the stamps that i have always liked but never could get colored and make them look nice. My love affair with the copics still continues!

I FINALLY made this card. Why do I say FINALLY? I only bought the punch about 7 years ago (or maybe longer) when I did a cute card at one of the conventions I went to. I thought the card was so cute but never got around to making one. I needed a generic card so I thought this one would fit the bill. The frog is also punched out on the green so when you add the top layer of the brown, using double stick tape, then adding prisma glitter, you have two cute glittery frogs each in different spots. One on the outside and on in the inside of the card. then the punched out green frog is used in the center of the frame.

Having Fun Again

yesterday I went to the SU card making class I have joined on Wednesdays. In celebration of the new catalog being released we did a special workshop class. OMG did I have fun! We made this purse that is a card holder. I had so much fun that I am wanting to make a few more of these. The thing that intreagued me the most is the faux alagator on the purse. It is a shame that my camera did not pick it up, but it really looks like alagator leather on the brown strip and clasp. Better yet is was so easy to do, we just used embossing powder and etched the lines in before we embossed. The purse was easy to make, but the fun did not stop there. Look at what happens when you open the purse.......

Now open the purse, there are pockets to put cards in and a place to hold the pen you need to sign and address the cards. I just fell in love with this, again it is much easier than it looks. We made a total of 4 cards to put into this purse. The first two cards are shown inside the open purse.

The next two cards are shown here. Bobbie came to the class this week, it is always nice to stamp with her no matter where we are.
I have a few more things that I am finishing up in the craft room and will be posting them sometime soon.

Another Productive Day

Last night i sat down in the craft room to make a card to send off to Sumana and realized I forgot all about 4th of July cards. So first let me appologize as you are not getting one this year as i just plum forgot to make them! But I did get two cards made that I will send to Sumana, I am so proud of her wanting to serve this wonderful country and i really want her (and all our other service men) to know how much I appreciate their service. So this is what I came up with...
The first card is a Rubbernecker stamp that I have had for years and enjoy pulling him out. Hold onto your hat..I used my prismacolor pencils and not my copics! As hard as it is to beleive, I was just in the mood for something different.

the second card is used the new stamps I just got from SU. I love this set and have many more cards planned for them. Ok you can breath easier now, yes I used the copics to color in the eagle. I use the flag backgrounds I made a while back when I was playing around with the radiant pearls. I like the background for this card much better than what I was trying to acheive earlier.
So I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July celebration. Even though you did not get a card from me I did think of you.

What To Do?

What do you do for an Anniversary card? I want something original and different, something that lets the happy couple know we care, but not too mushy. I got it, MR & Mrs Potato Head! I love doing this card as it is so fun and sometimes true.

Time To Catch Up

I have been real busy lately and have not taken the time to keep things posted. I love the new SU card group I have been going to we have had a lot of fun making cards, chatting, and learning new techniques. No cards to post from last weeks meeting, I am unsure if I am going to send any of them to my swap partner this round or not. Since I know you read this Anna, I am not posting them until I have either decided not to send them to you, or after you have received them.

We had a great weekend! Stephen went to the river with some friends which left Alan and I Home Alone!!!!!! So what did we do? We had a fantastic time, it almost felt like vacation. Please check out Alan's blog to see what we did and the fun we had. Alan will update his blog tonight right after he fixes the swamp cooler.

I have received some cool mail this last week so make sure you stop by my other blog...art from friends and take a look at what talented friends I have.

I finally finished the inchies that I have been working on. I am working my way through the alphabet for one of the swaps I am doing. Here are the "F", "G", & "H" inchies I did. The fish ones were done with G-Rated Stamps, one of my favorite companies.

I discovered a had a few more African animals that I one thought. after doing the shrink elephants, I found this giraffe so I thought he would be good for the alphabet swap.

I found this cute little stamp at the yard sale we had a while back and could not resist using thei stamp from SU for "H"ouses.

I also got my "Bird" inchies done, of course I did owls! I just love these owls, big, small, funny, no matter what size they are lets face it I love the owls!

The last card here is one I sent to Linda as a get well card. The inside verse says...."I have a heat gun and know how to use it!"

A Fun Filled Weekend

We had a great weekend. We went to the Home and backyard show at the LA County Fair Grounds. It was a different kind of day. If you want to know about it check out Alan's blog.

I have been spending some time in the craft room trying to get a few things done. I finally finished my June Inchies that will go out in the mail today. The theme was celestial, and I hope I stayed within the theme as it was rather challenging for me this time.

I also got my African animals done for Trish's swap. Again I don't have many African themed stamps, esp. ones that would work with inchies. I used a cute elephant stamp that I had and stamped him on shrink plastic. I think he shrunk down to the perfect size. I then used my copics to color in the bamboo background. Sorry Trish, it is the best I could come up with, as you really don't want to see what the trash man gets.

I also got a few get well cards done. I LOVE to use my good ole Cliff the chicken stamp for get well cards as he is just so enthusiastic over the whole thing. LOL The verse inside says..."I wanted to send you some chicken soup to make you feel better....But I could not get the chicken into the can. I also include a package of chicken noodle cup of soup with the card. This really is my favorite card to do. This time I used my Copic markers, now I bet you are surprised over that. I really had fun coloring good ole Cliff. I just love how the markers blend themselves and play together so well. I am finally satisfied on how well Cliff turned out. Just in case you missed that, I still am in love with my Copics!
